If I comprehend the gist of the lyrics right, I’d say there’s probably a lot of folks who’d relate to them now, during the current pandemic, pondering life/death while isolating. I still need to listen to a lot of Phideaux’s catalogue, but my intuition tells me this one will be near the top of my favourite Phideaux albums list when I’m done, if not at the apex. This is a great conceptual prog rock album. I’m late to the party, but better late than never! 8.5+/10.

Ah, why didn't I buy this earlier? Has been on my wishlist since it's release and Bad Elephant Music's sampler and ongoing sales campaign luckily triggered the buy. Tags given are post-progressive and post-rock, but the music feels much lighter than I usually associate with those tags. Quite song-oriented, indeed. Great music, great vocals.

To me, "Trip The Life Fantastic" was a must-buy on "Bandcamp Friday" this time. It's one of the few "Drifting Sun" albums not already found in my collection, and an essential one, because it marks the beginning of the prolific collaboration of composer/keyboardist Pat Sanders and lyricist/singer Peter Falconer, which was, in my opinion, the best creative pairing the band ever had.
