Venerdì 23 febbraio 2018 esce "New - The Ancient Veil remastered" ristampa del primo omonimo CD che nel 1995 produsse la Mellow Records, etichetta di riferimento per il progressive italiano di quegli anni.

“New” però non è una semplice ristampa.

“Questo lavoro nasce dal desiderio di dare nuova vita al primo CD degli Ancient veil.
Abbiamo quindi rivisto e ripensato sia l’aspetto audio che la parte grafica, migliorandone il suono globale, aggiungendo dei nuovi strumenti, che per il nostro attuale gusto ne hanno completato gli arrangiamenti e donato una più viva spazialità sonora ad ogni singolo brano.
Tutto è più ricco e completo, uno spazio sonoro dove coesiste in equilibrio il suono del passato nastro a 24 tracce con l’elaborazione digitale del software attuale.

Rispetto al lavoro originale sono stati tolti quattro brani, che ritroviamo comunque raccolti e citati nella bo-nus track finale, creazione sonora originale di Edmondo Romano, che compone attraverso l’utilizzo dei soli suoni naturali e di rumori di varia natura una piccolo suite “collage” dove si ripropone quasi per intero due composizioni storiche dei primissimi Eris Pluvia, due improvvisazioni registrate su Ampex che risalgono ai primi anni ottanta: “Eris pluvia” una presa diretta per due flauti e vera pioggia registrata nel portone della prima sala prove del gruppo, improvvisazione che è all’origine di tutto il nostro percorso musicale e che ha dato i natali al nome ideato da Edmondo del nostro primo gruppo nel 1985 e “Sarai pioggia” per voce e pia-noforte, naturale conseguenza musicale, incisa qualche mese dopo dalla prima cantante del gruppo.
La parte grafica è stata ridisegnata con i quadri di Francesca Ghizzardi che richiama sia la prima stagione degli Eris Pluvia di "Rings of earthly light" (è da ricordare che è stata anche autrice di alcuni dei testi di quell’album) sia "I am changing" a poco più di un anno di distanza dalla sua uscita.
Proprio per questi motivi il CD si intitola New - The ancient veil remastered.”

Questo cd ha visto la sua luce grazie al lavoro certosino della band composta da Alessandro Serri alle chitar-re, Edmondo Romano ai fiati e Fabio Serri alle tastiere, ma anche grazie alla sinergia che si è create con il produttore esecutivo Jens Deneke, alla consolidata collaborazione con Loris Furlan della Lizard Records, alla cura nella distribuzione digitale di Beppe Greppi della Felmay, e alla preziosa disponibilità di Mauro Moroni della Mellow Records e dal tempo messo a disposizione dalla produzione Eden.

Notizia interessante è che questo album precede di poco l’uscita prevista per questa primavera di un CD live registrato durante due concerti realizzati nel 2017 a “La Claque” di Genova al quale gli Ancient veil con la nuova formazione stanno lavorando da circa un anno, un disco che ripercorre i trent’anni di carriera della band, proponendo finalmente dal vivo alcuni brani entrati a far parte della storia del new progressive italiano:
Il percorso si svilupperà partendo dal 1991 con l’album “Rings of earthly light” della band Eris Pluvia di cui Serri e Romano sono stati i compositori quasi esclusivi dell’intero album uscito per Musea, per proseguire nel 1995 con “The Ancient Veil” uscito per la Mellow Records per finire con il più recente “I am changing” del 2017 prodotto da Lizard Records.
Il CD sarò prodotto dalla Lizard Records e distribuito dalla Black Widow Records.

Altro particolare di "New - The Ancient Veil remastered" è la presenza in di molti musicisti della scena genovese ed italiana degli anni ’90 che negli anni successivi realizzano importanti progetti personali e di gruppo in numerosi generi musicali.

homonym that in 1995 was produced by Mellow Records, reference label for the Italian progressive of
those years.

"New", however, is not a simple reprint.

"This work comes from the desire to give new life to the first CD of the Ancient Veil.
We have therefore revised and redesigned both the audio aspect and the graphic part, improving the overall sound, adding new instruments, that for our current taste, have completed the arrangements and given more lively sound space to each single song.
Everything is richer and more complete, a sound space where the sound of the past 24 track tape coexists with the digital processing of the current software.”

Unlike the original work, four pieces have been removed, which we still find collected and quoted in the final track, original sound creation by Edmondo Romano that composes a small suite "collage" through the use of only natural sounds and sounds of various kinds, where he presents almost entirely two historical compositions of the very first Eris Pluvia, two improvisations recorded on Ampex that date back to the early eighties:
"Eris pluvia" a direct recording for two flutes and real rain recorded in the door of the first rehearsal room of the group, an improvisation that is at the origin of our entire musical journey and that gave birth to the name created by Edmondo of our first group in 1985 and "Sarai pioggia" for voice and piano, natural musical consequence, recorded a few months later by the group's first singer.
The graphic part has been redesigned with paintings by Francesca Ghizzardi that recalls both, the first sea-son of the Eris Pluvia of "Rings of earthly light" (it is to be remembered that she was also the author of some of the lyrics of that album) and "I am changing "a little more than a year away from its release.
For these reasons, the CD is titled New - The ancient veil remastered. "

This work has seen its light thanks to the meticulous work of the band, composed by Alessandro Serri
on guitars, Edmondo Romano on the wind instruments and Fabio Serri on keyboards, but also thanks to the synergy created with the executive producer Jens Deneke, to the consolidated collaboration with Loris Fur-lan of Lizard Records, to the digital distribution of Beppe Greppi of Felmay, the precious availability of
Mauro Moroni of Mellow Records and the care given by Eden production.

Interesting news is that this album just precedes the release scheduled for this spring of a live CD recorded during two concerts performed in 2017 at "La Claque" in Genoa to which the Ancient Veil with the new group have been working for about a year, a record that traces the thirty years of career of the band, finally proposing live some songs that have become part of the history of the new Italian progressive:
the path will develop starting from 1991 with the album "Rings of earthly light" of the band Eris Pluvia of which Serri and Romano were almost exclusive composers of the entire album released for Musea, to continue in 1995 with "The Ancient Veil" released for Mellow Records to end with the latest "I am changing" of 2017 produced by Lizard Records.
The CD will be produced by Lizard Records and distributed by Black Widow Records.

Another detail of "New - The Ancient Veil remastered" is the presence of many musicians of the Genoese and Italian scene of the 90s, who in the following years realized important personal and group projects in numerous musical genres.
